Non Candy Easter Baskets: Think Beyond the Chocolate Bunny
The best part about a non candy Easter basket is that it can be as unique as the child receiving it. Instead of sticking to the usual pastels and plastic grass, think about what your kiddo actually loves.
Are they a little artist? A future scientist? An outdoor explorer?
Building a basket around their interests makes the surprise even more magical. Plus, the best part—no sugar overload or wrappers mysteriously appearing under the couch weeks later.
Get creative with these fun alternatives:
Rain bootsor umbrella – A practical and adorable way to present Easter surprises!
Beach bucket – Perfect for upcoming summer fun.
Mini backpacks – A useful choice kids can use all year.
Toy dump truck – A big hit for little construction lovers.
Baby/toddler pool – Talk about a big surprise for little kids!
For older kids, maybe try these alternatives instead:
Sports cooler – Very useful for active teens
Storage bins – A functional option for organizing after Easter is over.
Makeup/Accessory organizer – Hanging organizers are great for saving space!
Tackle box – Very useful if your kid loves the outdoors.
Laundry basket – If your teen is close to moving out on their own, this would be very practical and much needed. Especially if you choose to fill it with other household items 😛
Now that we’ve got the baskets covered, let’s talk about what to put inside!
How To Make A DIY Easter Basket
Who says an Easter basket has to be… well, a basket? Get creative!
Try creating a DIY non candy Easter basket that matches your child’s personality! Here’s how:
Pick a fun container – Think beyond the basket! Use a hat, a lunchbox, or even a small suitcase.
Choose a theme – Sports, arts & crafts, gardening, or favorite characters can guide your basket selections.
Mix in useful items – Think socks, water bottles, or sunglasses.
Add an interactive element – Stickers, puzzles, or a scavenger hunt note for extra fun!
Make it colorful – Bright shredded paper, ribbons, or confetti can add a festive touch!
And don’t forget to add a few playful touches, like a decorative bow, stickers, or a cute name tag to personalize it.
Bonus points if you include something that’s reusable, so the fun lasts long after Easter morning!
Baby & Toddler: Cute, Cuddly, and Safe for Little Hands
For the tiniest bunnies in the bunch, safety and sensory fun are key. Think soft textures, bright colors, and things that crinkle, rattle, or squeak.
Babies love exploring new shapes and sounds, so filling their non candy Easter basket with engaging (and chewable) goodies will keep them entertained long after the Easter egg hunt.
Plus, parents will appreciate gifts that don’t leave them wiping sticky fingers every five minutes!
These little surprises will bring big smiles without the sugar rush!
Elementary and Middle School Aged Kids: Fun, Functional, and Full of Surprises
This is the age where kids are full of energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm for all things Easter!
Whether they love crafting, sports, reading, or outdoor adventures, a non candy Easter basket can be packed with fun finds tailored to their hobbies.
Think interactive, hands-on activities that spark creativity and encourage play. And let’s be honest—if it glows in the dark, makes noise, or has a little bit of mystery to it, they’ll be totally obsessed.
These ideas will keep them entertained long after the Easter egg hunt!
Teens & Tweens: Cool, Trendy, and Actually Exciting
Let’s face it—teens and tweens can be a tough crowd to impress. But with the right mix of trendy and practical, you can create a non candy Easter basket that they won’t just roll their eyes at.
Think stylish accessories, self-care goodies, or fun items they can use with friends. Keeping it cool (and Instagram-worthy) is the secret sauce to winning over this age group.
Older kids might not be as excited about stuffed animals, but they’ll love these cool non-candy Easter treats:
Gift cards (coffee shops, movie theaters, online stores)
Who says Easter baskets are just for little kids? These ideas will make sure tweens and teens don’t feel left out!
What are your favorite non-candy Easter basket ideas?
So, there you have it—endless ways to fill an Easter basket without a single chocolate bunny or jellybean in sight. Whether you’re making a basket for a tiny tot, an adventurous kid, or a too-cool-for-school teen, the best part is seeing their face light up when they open their unique, thoughtful surprises.

Happy Easter and happy basket-filling!

For an option the kids can take home, check out these awesome options on Etsy! There are stickers, magnets, stuffed animals, 3D printed, etc.

Bluey Decorations
First things first, let’s set the scene. You don’t need to splurge to create a Bluey wonderland. Here are some budget-friendly ideas:
Bluey Table Settings: I found a fun party package at Party City that was cheap and perfect for what we needed. If you aren’t near a Party City and need the supplies quickly, Amazon has some similar party packages!
Streamers and Banners: Use crepe paper streamers in Bluey colors (blue, white, orange) and twist them around the party area. I made a printable “Happy Birthday” banner and completely forgot to get pictures of it hanging up, haha. It’s a FREE printable on my website though, so go ahead and print it out to use for your own party!
Balloons: Balloons are such a fun and easy way to add excitement to a party! You can make a balloon garland over your cake table (there are garland kits and character balloons on Amazon that help take the guess work out of how much to buy).
Food & Snacks
Now, let’s talk about the most important part – the food!
Keeping it simple and fun, here is our menu that we did inspired by Bluey episodes:
Hot Dogs: Snickers, the “sausage dog” is one of our favorite characters! It was easy to make him our inspiration for the main food item.
Fruit Bat Fruit Cups: Fruit Bat Bluey made an appearance, and I absolutely love how quick, easy, and cheap this party food is!
Chips: Our “chippies” had an extra exciting hand made wrapper that my little one got SO excited about when he was opening them up!
Veggie Tray: While I couldn’t come up with a way to fit it in to the theme, this mama definitely felt the need to get some anyways. Gotta have the “good” to balance the “bad”, right? Haha
…on to the snacks!
1. Bluey Fruit Snacks: I found these awesome Bluey fruit snacks on Amazon and couldn’t pass them up! For less than $6/box it was a perfect addition to our treat table.
2. Bum Worms: We did both regular and sour gummy worms for our “Bum worms” to give the kids some options. It was a hit for kids and adults alike, as I’m sure you can imagine.
Bluey Party Favors
Now would be the perfect time to go in to Bluey party favor options!
A lot of parents these days are turned off by little trinkets that just clutter up the house and end up getting thrown in the trash. We opted for party favors that could be used at the party to entertain the kids and they fit the theme perfectly!
Keepy Uppy: A Bluey party just isn’t complete without balloons for a game of Keepy Uppy. The best part? It’s cheap and kids love them! All you have to do to play this game is blow up a balloon and keep it off the ground! Easy peasy.
Sticky Gecko: We ended up getting these sticky lizards instead of geckos since they were a cheaper option (only $5.50 for 12!), but no one really noticed the difference. All of the kids loved slinging them around. They got dirty pretty quickly, but we were able to easily rinse them off for more fun.
Rita’s Beans: Here come the grannies with some tasty jelly beans! I designed these cute treat bags and have them for you for FREE in my printable library! They are easy to print, cut, and glue together to make a delicious, affordable, and on-theme treat that everyone will love. Speaking of grannies…
Granny glasses: These flower sunglasses would match “Rita’s” petty well, but this mama wanted a cheaper option and needed glasses that would appeal to boys as well as girls. I grabbed boy and girl glasses from the party section at Walmart.
If you opt to use party bags for the favors instead of laying them out like we did, I do have a printable Thank You tag you can use!

Bluey Party Games
What’s a party without games? Here are some Bluey-inspired activities that will keep the little ones giggling and having fun:
1. Relay Race: Let the kids run as “fast as a greyhound” in a home made obstacle course relay race. You can use logs to balance on, hoops to jump through, slides, cones for zig zagging, set up 2 cinder blocks with a piece of wood running between for the kids to crawl under …anything that gets them moving in different ways!
Our kids ranged from 2-9 years old, so we just started a timer and let them run multiple times to try to beat their own time. It kept the little ones from getting hurt by the competitive big kids. Our tunnel kept blowing away, so you may want to find a way to stake yours to the ground if you use one, lol.
2. Feather Wand: Give the kids long feathers to use as wands, but be careful! Whatever they point at becomes “heavy”, and you could find yourself eating “Rita’s beans” off the floor!
3. Pass The Parcel: There are two ways you can play this game. Both ways have a prize in the center that gets wrapped with many layers of wrapping paper or tissue paper, and an adult plays music. When the music stops, whoever has the gift, unwraps a layer.
First way to play, you wrap a small gift in the center. Then, add more layers on top each with a small trinket in it. An adult stops the music on each child once so they all get a small prize.
OR you can play by “Lucky’s Dad’s rules”…there is one large surprise in the center and every other layer is empty. The adult doesn’t look and randomly stops the music. Whichever kid gets the final layer is the one kid that gets a prize. We played this way and our oldest ended up with the prize: Bluey stretchy scented sand! I wanted a prize that fit the theme and no matter which kid would have gotten it, this prize would have been awesome to them all!
4. Bob Bilby Photo Album: Grab one of these Bob Bilby puppets, an instant camera, and a small scrapbook album. Let the kids take pictures doing fun activities with Bob Bilby. Put the photos in the album and let them personalize their page with stickers, permanent markers, etc. It would make a perfect momento for the birthday boy/girl.
5. Memory Snap: Grab a memory game (any memory game will work, but this Bluey one is one of my favorites!) and see who can make the most matches!
